Activities include game drives and quad biking on the pans. On the nature walks with the Bushmen, you will learn about the values of the earth and how these people have survived the harsh environment through teamwork and strong family ties.

Day 1: Johannesburg – Maun – Makgadikgadi Pans

You will arrive in Maun on a flight from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport. From here you will be transferred by light aircraft to your bush camp on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans, where you will spend the first 2 nights of your family safari. You will be overwhelmed by the space and the silence, an experience that will affect the whole family and bring everyone closer together.

Day 2 & 3: Makgadikgadi Pans

Early wake-up calls signal days of adventures and discoveries for the family on this Makgadikgadi safari. Game drives and quad bike rides will showcase the largest salt pans on earth that were once part of a vast inland lake. Larger than Switzerland, it will seem as though the pans never end as you ride for hours and not get anywhere.

Another great family safari activity in the Makgadikgadi is the time spent with a colony of habituated wild Meerkats. You will watch them as they go about their daily business, searching for food and spending time with each other grooming and playing. The night skies in the Kalahari are spectacular and falling asleep to the sounds of the wilderness is one of the highlights of any safari.

Day 4: Makgadikgadi Pans – Maun – Johannesburg

Make the most of your final day! There will be time for a last activity together with the family before you return to your camp for breakfast.

You will be transferred to the airstrip for the flight back to Maun Airport, where you catch the connecting flight on your return journey to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport.

Makgadikgadi Pans Family Safari Package

This 4 day Classic Fly-in Safari Exploration package includes flights ex/to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport. The rate is calculated per person sharing a room, with a maximum of 2 adults and 1 child (a child up to the age of 8 years receives a reduced rate during the wet season only, which runs from November to April).

The Rates are based on the high season, which runs from mid April to end October and may vary depending on the season and daily currency exchange rate. Please take note that if you are travelling with children under the age of 8 years then a private guide and vehicle are required. This Botswana package can also be combined with a stay at the Okavango Delta, Linyanti region and Chobe National Park.
