  • What can you expect from the 5 Days Pans and Delta Safari

This safari is a great exploration into the extremes of the Botswana wilderness. From the seemingly barren reaches of the Makgadikgadi to the lush riverine forests and floodplains of the Okavango Delta this Botswana safari is sure to exceed expectations.

Quad biking, makoros, archealogical sites, unique wildlife, salt pans and delta add up to one of the most unique safari experiences on the African continent.

Days 1 & 2: Jacks Camp, Makgadikgadi Pans

Upon arrival at Maun airport you will met and shown to your charter flight to Jacks Camp in the Makgadikgadi Pans where you will spend the next two nights. The Makgadikgadi pans are the largest salt pans in the world and activities here will encompass drives, quad-biking, archeological expeditions and game viewing.

Jacks Camp is a classic example of the tented camps of yore, stylish and comfortable, and is situated on the edge of the pans in a palm grove. From here you will explore this fascinating region on a variety of activities.

Although not about game viewing the region has wildlife in abundance with species such as brown hyena and oryx not seen in the northern parks of Botswana. Zebra and wildebeest migrate into the region in numbers to feed on the new grasses after the rains.

    Day 3 & 4: Xigera, Okavango Delta

The mokoro is the traditional method of transport in the Okavango Delta and this Botswana safari allows you to experience the delta as people have for centuries, with the added attraction of spending time walking on the islands.

To camp out under the African skies must be one of the greatest privileges, and to do it in a pristine wilderness area adds to the privilege. Led by experienced guides the Xigera Makoro Trail will leave you wanting more of this great continent.

Walking and camping on the islands of the delta will allow close up experiences of the variety of wildlife that occurs in the delta. You will be part of the environment, getting to know the scents and sounds – and feeling the reality of being so close to the earth.
